The Padel Garden

Ayre Architects were appointed by The Padel Garden Ltd. to develop proposals for a landscape-led sport, wellbeing and hospitality destination at The Nunnery Estate in Douglas, Isle of Man. Prepared in collaboration with a UK-based pod designer, the scheme brings together a purpose-built four-court indoor padel facility, food and beverage facilities and a “Wild Spa” wellness offering within a carefully considered masterplan. The proposals transform under-utilised land into a year-round destination for residents and visitors, supporting the estate’s continued evolution as a mixed-use campus. The design places particular emphasis on retaining mature trees, respecting the estate’s landscape character, enhancing biodiversity and minimising visual impact. The project was submitted for planning in summer 2026.
